Privacy Policy

Recito is built so that this policy can be short. We do not collect any data about you, your scripts, or your videos. Everything happens on your iPhone. This page exists so the contract is explicit.

What we collect

Nothing. The privacy nutrition label in the App Store reads "Data Not Collected". That is accurate.

• No name, email, phone number, or other contact information.
• No analytics. No crash reporters that phone home. No usage-tracking SDK.
• No advertising identifiers.
• No account — there is no login, because there is no server.

That is about the app. This website is a separate thing, and since September 2026 it does measure page views — see This website below. Nothing measured there ever reaches the app, and the App Store label is unaffected.

This website

The pages you are reading are served by Firebase Hosting and use Google Analytics 4 to count page views — which pages get read, and roughly where readers come from. It exists so we can tell an article nobody finds from an article nobody wants; there is no advertising here and no profiles are built.

• Until you accept, nothing is stored on your device. Analytics storage starts denied. The visit is still counted, but as an anonymous ping with no cookie and no identifier.
• If you accept, Google Analytics sets its own cookies so a returning visit is not counted as a new person. Google processes that data on our behalf.
• Advertising signals stay off permanently, accepted or not. We run no ads, so there is nothing to personalise.
• You can change your choice at any time.

Your scripts and recordings

Scripts you write are stored only on your device. Videos you record are written to the device's temporary storage and, when you tap Save, copied into your own Photos library — nowhere else. Recito has no backend and uploads nothing.

Camera, microphone, and photos

Recito asks for camera and microphone access to record video, and for permission to add videos to your Photos library when you save a take. These are used only for that purpose, on your device. You can change them any time in Settings → Recito.

Speech recognition

Since version 1.5, Recito can scroll your script as you read it aloud. To do this it asks for speech recognition permission and listens to the microphone while you record or preview. Recognition runs entirely on your device, using Apple's on-device speech models: no audio and no transcript is sent anywhere, nothing is stored, and the feature works with no network connection at all. Recito refuses server-based recognition by design — if your device has no offline model for your script's language, the feature says so rather than sending your voice to a server. You can turn it off from the Voice icon on the record screen.

Check this for yourself

You do not have to take our word for any of this. On Recito's App Store page, scroll to App Privacy: it says Data Not Collected. That label is declared to Apple and audited by Apple, and it is the same for every app — so it is worth comparing with any other teleprompter you are considering. Recito contains no analytics, no advertising SDK, and no network code other than Apple's own StoreKit for the one-time purchase.

In-app purchases

The one-time "Recito Pro" unlock is processed by Apple through StoreKit. Recito never sees your payment details — Apple handles the transaction and tells the app only whether you are entitled. See Apple's Privacy Policy for how Apple handles purchases.

Children

Recito does not collect data from anyone, including children, and shows no ads.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the date above changes with it. Since nothing is collected, changes will be minor.
